  Ervin was born in Antlers, Pushmataha District, Choctaw Nation.  Thecurrent Pushmataha County comprised the original Choctaw District ofPushmataha, plus two other Districts, each of which were divided evenfurther into counties.  The are had been Choctaw land since 1832.  Thetown of Antlers was established with a US post office in 1887, alongthe Frisco Railroad.  It was in Jack's Fork County of the PushmatahaDistrict.  This became part of Pushmataha County, Oklahoma, with theestablishment of the State of Oklahoma in 1907.

  In the 1910 census, Ervin, listed as James C, is in his grandparents'home.  HIs father died some time before the 1910 census.  I do nothave further details on his mother for this period, but a genealogyreports that Alice Miney Wilson Barnett died in 1978.
