Notes
- I remember the family referring to Joe David as Jodie. This was alsoa childhood name of his grandfather Joseph Asa Jenkins. I remembervisiting the Hendrons on a family vacation in 1956, when I was 8 yearsold.
Joe David's former sister-in-law, Sue Briggs, former wife of CharlesRobert Junior, told me in February 2008 that Joe David had beenmarried twice. I had found information on his second marriage, butnot on his first. I was also told that he has twins from each ofthese marriages. But the only child I could find any information onat that time was his son with Margaret Thorpe, born in 1974, alsonamed Joe David.
Further information was obtained form Joe D's daughter Lenae, whowrote me in April 2008 to inform me of her presence, as well as a twinbrother of Joe David Jr, Jason Charles. I had a hard time finding thebirth record for Jason Charles. I did find it with his name enteredas Jason C. I had earlier found a Social Security Death Index entryrecording his birth and death. Lenae tells me Jason died in a carcrash on 14 September 1996, the same date reported by SSDI.
I found Joe and Margaret's marriage information in the Nevada MarriageIndex.
Joe David Hendron, Residence: California
Spouse: Margaret Marie Thorpe, Residence: California
Marriage: 3 Apr 1970, Las Vegas
Officiant type: Civil celebrant, Recorded date: 13 Apr 1970.
In 2006, I found a burial entry for Joe David Hendron in GoletaCemetery, in Santa Barbara County, where the family lived, and where Ilast saw his mother, my Aunt Lahoma. This was the first public recordI found for Joe David.

I found the California Death Index listing in July 2007, along withthe California Birth Index listing. The California Birth Index tellsus that Joe David was born in Los Angeles County. I had already foundthe date from other sources before finding the Birth Index record inFebruary 2008. His birth date was 18 April 1945.
I found matching information in the Social Security Death Index.According to the SSDI, Joe David died in November 1975. This indexlacks an address at the time of death, which is normally included. The month of death matches the exact date of 14 November 1975 reportedby the California Death Index. Joe David died in Solano County, innorthern California.
Family members tell me, in email exchanges February-April 2008, JoeDavid died in prison, under suspicious circumstances. Some thought hewas murdered. He died just 2 weeks before he was to be released. Hisdaughter Lenae reports (person email communication) that her mothertold her that Joe David had indicated he was happy to be getting outand excited about seeing his family again in just a few days.

I had also found in February 2008 a report that he and his wife haddivorced in September that same year. I found it odd that he would bedivorced and then die two months later. The California Divorce Indexhad told me that he was divorced from Margaret Thorpe in September1975. California Divorce Index, 1966-1984, Santa Barbara County
Hendron Joe D b 1945
Thorpe Margaret M b 1949
Married 1970 Divorce 09 75
His divorce was registered in Santa Barbara County, in southernCalifornia. Two months later he died in prison in Solano County, northern California. Joe David was buried in Santa Barbara County, where he had previously been living.
Concerning this divorce, in email exchanges in April 2008, Joe D'sdaughter Lenae said she asked her mother about the divorce. Margaret(called Peggy by the family) said they were never divorced. This isvery strange. How did such an entry get entered into the Californiarecords, with all the right information for these two persons?

Hendron, Joe, Social Security #565-60-8920 Issued in California, Birth04/18/1945, Death 11/00/1975 [No address at time of death reported]
The California Divorce Index has an entry for Joe D and Margaret, dated September 1975. He died in prison a few weeks later, on 14 Nov1975, Solano County, according to the California Death Index.
In email exchanges in April 2008, Joe D's daughter Lenae said sheasked her mother about the divorce. Margaret said they were neverdivorced. What a mystery we have, then, finding such an entry in theofficial California records! A divorce that never happened!?
