Notes
- Maud received the title of Lady (Baroness) Strange of Blackmerethrough her stepmother Ankaret Le Strange, who had inherited the titlebecause of lack of male heirs. Maud actually received the tile fromher stepbrother, Gilbert Talbot, a son from Ankaret's first marriageto Richard Talbot. I am not clear how the title passed to Maud, rather than to one of Gilbert's Talbot brothers. It is reported thatMaud's parents are Thomas Neville, 6th Lord Neville of Furnival, andhis first wife Joan Furnival. When Gilbert died 6 years after hismother, his title went to Maud Neville, who was also his sister-in-lawafter marrying John Talbot it appears the next in line for the titlewas determined to be Maud.
