Notes
- Middle initial and birth date originally from Bobby Butler research. He appears as Matthew O in the 1900 census, living with brother WileyCarew, sister Callie and brother James. He appears again in 1910 and1920, again in Wiley Carew's household. James appears to be James M(Jim, James Magnus), who did not appear in Arkansas County in the 1910census, but is recorded with his family in subsequent censuses tillhis death in 1944.
The initial O could be for the name Oliver, which recurs in theMcSwain family. In the Arkansas Death Index, the name is Mathew Oli,increasing the likelihood that the middle name is Oliver. The WWIRegistration card, found afterwards (see below), contains his fullname and his signature. This was further affirmed by the WWIregistration.

Also Matt's birthday is her reported as 1881, but the1900 census and the WWII registration report 11882, which seems tomatch the other census ages better.
