Notes

• I have found several Crawford genealogies that report seeminglyreliable information about the David Crawford and his lineage.  I havefound two reported birthplaces, New Kent Co VA and the family estateTusculum in Amherst Co VA.

  Another genealogy which, strangely, reports no wife or children forDavid, reports that David, son of David, was born in the settlement ofJamestown, in James City County, Virginia, where David was born.  Thisgives us three birth places in Virginia reported for Captain DavidCrawford.

  Some genealogies report David had a wife named Ann Anderson, but donot state any source or provide any information.  I cannot find anymarriage record or anything to connect these two names. Ann Andersonis reported to have been born in 1708 (after some of David's children)and to have died in 1803.  But Elizabeth Smith, for whom I findmultiple reports and records as Captain David's wife, died in 1767(making her 102 years old, not likely).
  
  I suspect that is a mistranscription error, since sources report thatDavid Crawford married Ann Anderson in 1727.  Elizabeth's death yearwas probably 1727.  Undocumented genealogy reports place her death inAmherst (in 1767), but I have not found a record to that effect.

  This source does not comment on the birth of Judith Crawford beforethe marriage of her father to Ann Anderson.  Her birth falls after thereported marriage of Captain David Crawford to Elizabeth Smith.  Andit does not document the source for these bits of information.Genealogies with full information for Ann report she was born in 1708(3 years after Judith was born) and died in 1803.
  
  There is a reference to Ann Anderson in Terry family tradition.Jacque Watkins, another Terry descendant, and I have worked on theTerry lineages and reviewed sources she has collected from others.

  While Ann Anderson was likely the second wife of Captain DavidCrawford, she was born 3 years after Judith was!  The dates of David'smarriage to Elizabeth and their other children indicate Elizabeth isJudith's mother.
